Carlos Sainz Seeks “Full Support” and Eyes Top Teams for 2025

Carlos Sainz is on the move. With Lewis Hamilton taking his Ferrari seat in 2025, the Spanish driver revealed his priorities for his next Formula 1 team.

“I think like any other employee in any other company,” Sainz told reporters at the Miami Grand Prix, “just the full support and full backing of the company allowing me to extract the best of myself.” He emphasized the importance of “a good medium-term project” and “good people around me.”

These comments suggest Sainz is eyeing top teams. “And I think any of those teams you’ve mentioned are good options for that,” he said, referring to Mercedes, Red Bull, and the incoming Audi team (currently Sauber). “That’s why you need to keep all the options open at the moment.”

Sainz Approves of Hulkenberg-Audi Pairing

With Fernando Alonso staying at Aston Martin, another driver market domino fell. Nico Hulkenberg’s move to Sauber, soon to be Audi, leaves only one seat open for 2025.

This seat has been linked to Sainz, who would reunite with former McLaren boss Andreas Seidl. However, Sainz remains cautious. “The only assurance I have is for myself that I want to take the right decision,” he said. “That’s why it’s also taking a bit longer and that’s why I want to see all the options available before taking any fundamental decision.”

Sainz did express approval for the Hulkenberg-Audi partnership. “I think Nico joining Audi makes complete sense for them and for Nico,” he said. “He’s a great driver…a great signing for them and him.”

With driver decisions looming, Sainz is carefully considering his options, seeking a team that offers long-term support and a strong future.
